VOC and Emission Control
Molecular sieve for VOC and emission control
Adsorbent for solvent-laden air streams — where the stream is dry or pre-dried, and where a hydrophobic grade is the honest answer.
Below is how the duty works, the grades we ship for it and what we need from you to quote.
the duty works, the grades we ship for it and what we need from you to quote.
Dry streams first
Standard grades take water before they take solvent. If the stream is humid, the pores fill with water and VOC capacity collapses — we flag this before you order.
Hydrophobic grades when wet
For humid or high-water streams we quote a hydrophobic molecular sieve instead, and say so in writing rather than selling you a grade that will not hold up.
Regeneration and disposal
Loaded adsorbent is regenerated with hot air or nitrogen, or replaced and sent for treatment. We tell you which is realistic for your concentration and solvent.
Honest note: a standard 3A, 4A or 13X sieve is a water adsorbent first. On a wet VOC stream it will load with water and stop taking solvent. We will tell you that before you buy, not after.
Typical service conditions
| Parameter | Typical range | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Inlet relative humidity | Below 40% for standard grades | Above that, water wins the pores |
| VOC concentration | 100–5,000 ppm as carbon | Sets bed size and cycle time |
| Bed temperature | Ambient to 40 °C | Adsorption capacity falls as it warms |
| Regeneration temperature | 150–250 °C | Hot air or nitrogen, depending on solvent |
| Cycle time | 2–8 h | Fixed by concentration and bed sizing |
Recommended grades
- 13X — dry or pre-dried organic vapour streams
- Hydrophobic molecular sieve — humid streams, quoted after a feasibility check
- Activated alumina or activated carbon — where the duty calls for it and we say so
Information we need to quote
| Item | Example |
|---|---|
| Solvent or compound to remove | e.g. toluene, MEK, 800 ppm |
| Stream humidity and temperature | e.g. 30% RH at 25 °C |
| Air flow | e.g. 10,000 m³/h |
| Regeneration available | e.g. hot air at 200 °C |

Tell us the medium, the target and the quantity. We come back with the grade, the packing, the lead time and the documents that ship with it.
Emission control duty
Zeolite rotors and fixed beds concentrate VOC streams before thermal oxidation.
