Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS)
Packing and typical duty

Before you order
- Compare this grade with the others — pore size, what it adsorbs and the regeneration temperature
- Packing, lead time and Incoterms — 25 kg bags, drums or big bags, 1,000 kg minimum
- Request a sample — 0.5–1 kg from production with its certificate of analysis
Carbon Molecular Sieve
Carbon molecular sieve is a microporous carbon adsorbent. Unlike zeolites, its separation is based on rate: oxygen enters the pore mouth much faster than nitrogen, so a short PSA cycle produces enriched nitrogen. It is the adsorbent inside PSA nitrogen generators.

Frequently asked questions
How does carbon molecular sieve separate nitrogen?
By adsorption rate, not equilibrium capacity: oxygen diffuses into the pore much faster than nitrogen, so a short cycle keeps oxygen on the bed and lets nitrogen through.
What purity can be reached?
95% up to 99.999%, depending on plant design, pressure, cycle time and the grade selected. Tell us the purity and flow you need and we will recommend a grade.
What is the minimum order and packing?
1,000 kg per grade, in 20 kg or 40 kg airtight drums or 500 kg big bags.
Where this grade is used
- Air separation — PSA nitrogen generation — carbon molecular sieve separates nitrogen from air by adsorption rate, not by pore size
